Wasp nest near your Sacramento entryway?

A nest near the front door changes how people enter the house. It changes how they receive deliveries and use the yard. First, describe the location clearly and keep away from the nest.

You do not need to climb up, open a vent or identify the species before you call for help.

We offer wasp and hornet removal in Sacramento for nests under eaves, in vents, sheds and other structures. Our technician finds the nest, treats it before removal and checks the opening when a gap or vent played a part. Your description helps us plan how to reach the site.

Describe the route people use

Tell us whether the nest is above the main door, beside a side gate, next to a patio seat, or near a path children or visitors use. If there is another safe entrance, use it until the nest is assessed.

UC IPM’s Pest Notes on yellowjackets and other social wasps say wasps can become very defensive when a nest is disturbed. They also say that if one lands on you, you should not swat it or run, but wait for it to leave.

Ask delivery drivers and household members to avoid the affected route, and do not stand beneath the nest to measure it.

If you can see the location safely from a distance, note whether the nest is out in the open under an eave or whether insects keep going into a hole, vent or wall opening.

UC IPM says wasps flying directly in and out of a single spot are likely flying to and from their nest. That traffic tells you more than guessing what type of wasp it is. An exposed nest and a suspected nest inside the structure can require different access.

Send a photo only if it is safe to take one

A distant photo that includes the doorway, eave or vent gives the technician context. A close-up is unnecessary.

If the nest is high, behind a shutter or inside a wall, say so rather than opening panels or climbing a ladder for a better picture, and leave nests in sheds and unused outdoor equipment alone.

Our guide to what attracts wasps to a Sacramento house covers food, shelter and common nest locations. If a nest is already near an entrance, focus the call on access. Describe the activity you can see and the place people need to avoid.

Clarify the scope before booking

Ask whether the quote covers locating the nest, treatment, removal and checking the site afterward, and mention any wall or vent opening so we can tell you what we can inspect and whether closing it is part of the job.

Ask when the route can be used again, and follow the technician’s directions for your treatment.

Here is one way to say it on the first call: “There is repeated wasp traffic into a vent beside our front door in Sacramento; we are using the side entrance; I can send a photo from the sidewalk.”

Keep the first call short. Our contact page takes service requests. You can also call (916) 818-3863, Monday to Saturday, 7am to 6pm.

If someone has a severe reaction after a sting, get urgent medical help. Do not wait for pest service.
