Rodent Exclusion in Sacramento, CA

Exclusion is sealing the ways rats and mice get into the building. It is the only rodent work that actually ends the problem, because trapping without sealing just makes room for the next one. Our rodent exterminators seal those routes and remove the rats and mice already inside.

How rodent exclusion works

Rodents do not chew their way in from nothing. They use what is already open: a gap where a pipe enters the wall, a crawlspace vent that has rusted through, a roofline junction that never closed properly, a garage door seal that has flattened. A mouse needs about a quarter of an inch. A rat needs about half.

Exclusion is quoted after an inspection, not before, because the price depends entirely on how much of the house is open. A few sealed entry points is a small job. A whole house with an open crawlspace and a compromised roofline is not. Quotes start at $500 and we give you the number before anything starts.

Do I need this?

Scratching in the ceiling or walls at night, droppings along a wall or in the back of a cupboard, or a smell that will not go away. If you are hearing it above you rather than around you, that is usually roof rats and usually the roofline.

Frequently asked questions: rodent exclusion

How much does rodent exclusion cost?

It is quoted after an inspection, starting at $500. The price depends on how much of the house is open, so nobody can give you a real number over the phone.

Why not just set traps?

Trapping removes the rodents that are already inside. It does nothing about the opening they used, so the next one walks in through the same gap.

Do you clean up after?

Talk to the technician about what they find. Cleanup is handled case by case depending on the space.

How long does exclusion last?

Sealed entry points stay sealed. New ones can open as a building settles, which is one reason the bi-monthly plan includes checking the perimeter.

Do you do rodent work in attics and crawlspaces?

Yes. Those are the two places most Sacramento-area rodent problems actually live.

Do you handle wildlife?

No. We do not do wildlife removal, birds, termites or fumigation.
