How much does pest control cost in Sacramento?

A home plan with Summit Pest Control costs $39, $49 or $79 a month. The price depends on how often a technician comes out.

Every plan runs on a 12-month agreement. It is billed monthly and carries a $150 initial cost.

Those are the rates on our pricing page as checked on 7 October 2026. The plans are our general pest control service for homes across the Sacramento area, and below is what each plan includes and how the jobs outside the plans are priced.

The later sections cover the checks worth making before you sign with any pest control company in California. They use the Structural Pest Control Board’s own guidance.

The three plans side by side

All three plans are priced by how often a technician visits. The table uses the wording on the plan sheets.

Plan Monthly rate Visits Callbacks between visits
Quarterly $39 Every 3 months, 4 a year Not listed on the plan sheet
Bi-monthly $49 Every 2 months, 6 a year Free, as many times as needed
Monthly $79 Every month, 12 a year Unlimited and free

Each plan adds the same $150 initial cost. That charge is the first service, the visit that starts the plan, whichever frequency you choose. The bi-monthly plan is the one marked Most Popular on the plan sheet.

What a year on each plan adds up to

Over the 12-month agreement, twelve monthly charges plus the $150 initial cost add up to these totals at the published rates:

  • Quarterly: 12 x $39 is $468, plus $150, for $618.
  • Bi-monthly: 12 x $49 is $588, plus $150, for $738.
  • Monthly: 12 x $79 is $948, plus $150, for $1,098.

That arithmetic is ours, worked from the rates on the pricing page. Your written quote is the final figure, and the pricing page says a technician will confirm the right plan for the property.

What each plan covers

The plan sheets list coverage line by line. Wasps, spiders, ants, roaches, rats and mice are on all three, so ant control, spider control and wasp and hornet removal are all plan work.

Quarterly, $39 a month. The Quarterly Plan sheet describes it as built for standard residential homes.

  • All general pests and the exterior perimeter
  • Rats and mice
  • Wasps, spiders, ants and roaches
  • A mosquito barrier, and a seasonal barrier inspection every 90 days

Bi-monthly, $49 a month. The Bi-Monthly Plan is the first with free callbacks between services.

  • All general pests and the exterior perimeter
  • Rats and mice, with rodent bait station maintenance
  • Wasps, spiders, ants and American roaches
  • Mosquito barrier reduction treatments
  • Interior and exterior sweeps

Monthly, $79 a month. The Monthly Plan sheet describes it as built for active property perimeters and heavy vegetation.

  • All general pests, with heavier perimeter monitoring
  • Rat and mouse coverage
  • Mosquito and outdoor breeding treatments
  • A report from the technician every month
  • Wasps, spiders, ants, roaches and garden pests

If pests come back between visits

On the $49 bi-monthly plan, callbacks between services are free, as many times as needed. On the monthly plan they are unlimited and free.

The quarterly plan sheet does not list callbacks, so ask about a return visit between quarterly services when you get your quote.

None of the three plan sheets uses the word guarantee. If you want someone back between visits without paying for it, the pricing page’s advice is to start the comparison at bi-monthly.

If a problem with any pest control company is not resolved, the Structural Pest Control Board’s consumer guide says to call the company first. Then contact the Board.

The Board’s complaint page adds that complaints must be filed within two years. It also says the Board has no authority over payment disputes.

What the plans do not cover

Every plan card ends with the same exclusions line. It lists German cockroaches, termites, roof rat infestations, and major flea or bedbug infestations. Each of those is handled differently.

  • German cockroaches. UC IPM’s cockroach note says German and brownbanded cockroaches live and breed entirely indoors. Call the office and describe what you are seeing before you pick a plan; our cockroach control page explains how roach work is handled.
  • Roof rat infestations. According to UC IPM, roof rats typically nest in attics and in the hollow spaces inside walls and ceilings. So a rodent inspection finds out what is in the attic before anything is priced.
  • Major flea infestations. If the house is already heavily infested, describe it when you call (916) 818-3863. Our guide on getting rid of fleas in the house covers what the vet, the vacuum and the yard each do.
  • Bed bugs. Bed bug treatment in Sacramento is its own job, quoted after an inspection, because the cost depends on how many rooms are affected and how far the bed bugs have spread.
  • Termites. We do not do termite work, bird control, wildlife removal or fumigation, at any price.

Rodent exclusion is priced after an inspection

Rats and mice are covered on all three plans, but sealing a house against them is one-off work. Rodent exclusion is quoted after an inspection and starts at $500, with the price set by how much of the house is open.

The price moves with the number of openings: a few gaps around pipes is a smaller job than a house with an open crawlspace and gaps along the roofline.

The inspection does not commit you to anything, and if exclusion makes sense it is quoted then.

The gaps involved are small: UC IPM’s house mouse note says mice can squeeze under gaps a quarter inch tall. Its rat note says young rats can get under a door with a half-inch gap. Our guide on rodent exclusion versus trapping covers how to read what an inspection finds.

Commercial sites

The plan rates are residential. Commercial pest control is priced per site after a walk through the building, since a two-door office and a kitchen with a loading dock are different jobs.

For a business, call (916) 818-3863, Monday to Saturday between 7am and 6pm, and describe the building.

What changes the price

From what we publish, these are the things that move the number:

  • How often a technician comes, which sets the $39, $49 or $79 monthly rate.
  • Which pest it is. Plan pests are covered at the plan rate, while the excluded pests and bed bugs are priced after an inspection.
  • How much of the house is open, for rodent exclusion, which starts at $500.
  • Whether it is a home or a business, since commercial sites are priced per site.

Our pricing page lists one rate per plan and no price by house size, and the plan sheet links frequency to the property instead. It says quarterly for standard residential homes, and monthly for active perimeters and heavy vegetation.

Our Sacramento pest calendar shows when yellowjackets, mosquitoes and house mice tend to show up, which can help you decide how often you want someone out.

How to compare quotes

UC IPM’s guide to hiring a pest control company suggests getting recommendations and contacting at least three companies. It also notes that monitoring takes extra technician visits, which raises the cost. Services built on integrated pest management, it adds, may cost more at first but often give better long-term control.

If a company charges for an inspection, UC IPM says that fee should buy you a written diagnosis that identifies the pest. You can also ask for a copy of the pesticide label and the Safety Data Sheet for each product used.

Before you sign: checking any pest control company in California

These checks apply to any company you are comparing, us included. UC IPM’s guide to hiring a pest control company says to make sure the company holds a Structural Pest Control Board license for structural pest control.

To look a company up, use the Department of Consumer Affairs license search at search.dca.ca.gov and pick the Structural Pest Control Board in the board field. You can search by business name, license type or license number. Each record shows whether the license is current, expired or has been disciplined.

The Board’s licensing line is (916) 561-8704. Its consumer guide gives (800) 737-8188 for checking whether a company is properly registered. The same guide says to ask to see proof of licensure before the work is done.

A registered company works under a principal registration, or PR, number. Household pest work falls under Branch 2, which the Board defines as the control of household pests excluding fumigation. To register a company, the Board requires any unlicensed owner, partner or corporate officer to provide fingerprints and go through a background investigation.

The Board also sets requirements for registered companies. One is at least $500,000 in general liability insurance under Business and Professions Code section 8692. Another is a $12,500 bond under section 8697.

Since January 1, 2023, section 8693 also requires proof of workers’ compensation coverage or an exemption.

Two rules cover the treatment itself. A registered company must give you a written notice before treatment begins. Within 24 hours of a request, it must tell you the name of each pesticide it applied.

UC IPM adds that state law requires the company to identify the target pest before applying anything. It also expects the company to set out its plan: the treatments and products, how often it will inspect, and an estimate of the total cost.

Hours, quotes and what to have ready

The office is open Monday to Saturday, 7am to 6pm, and closed on Sunday. Quotes are free and come with no obligation.

Call (916) 818-3863 or use the contact page, and we reply during business hours, Monday to Saturday. Tell the office what you are seeing and where, and a technician will confirm the plan that fits the property.

If it is rats in the attic, ask for a rodent inspection first, since roof rat infestations sit outside the plans.

Questions people ask about pest control prices

What is the average cost of pest control services in Sacramento?

We do not publish an area average. Our own plans are $39, $49 or $79 a month on a 12-month agreement, billed monthly, plus a $150 initial cost.

Is $50 a month for pest control a lot?

Our bi-monthly plan is $49 a month for a visit every two months. It has free callbacks between services, on a 12-month agreement with a $150 initial cost. Whether that is worth it depends on which pests you have and whether they come back between visits.

What is a good price for quarterly pest control?

Our quarterly plan is $39 a month for a visit every three months. It is billed monthly on a 12-month agreement, plus a $150 initial cost. Its plan sheet does not list free callbacks, and those start at the bi-monthly plan.

How much does mice exclusion cost?

Rodent exclusion is quoted after an inspection and starts at $500. The price depends on how much of the house is open. The inspection does not commit you to booking the work.

How often should a house be treated for pest control?

Our plans come in three frequencies: every three months, every two months or every month. The plan sheets say quarterly is built for standard residential homes. They say monthly is built for active property perimeters and heavy vegetation.

Is it worth it to pay for pest control?

It depends on the pest. UC IPM says confirmed bed bug infestations should be managed by trained professionals. For ants, its advice starts with caulking and baiting ahead of the seasonal influx.

What are the pest control laws in California?

Structural pest control companies are licensed by the Structural Pest Control Board. A registered company must give you a written notice before treatment. Within 24 hours of a request, it must also tell you the name of each pesticide it applied.
